I agree that each person is responsible for their success. However, the 97% that don’t understand need a sponsor to keep them from failing for the lack of knowledge.

Thanks for the insightful post Bill.

I can say that I have experienced both types of sponsors, the helpful and the “ghosts” you never hear from.

I try to put myself in the shoes of a new MLM’r and satisfy their needs as a quality sponsor. This post really makes me look at myself and how to improve my characteristics as a sponsor.

Hey Bill,

I think having a great sponsor is beneficial.

You definitely want someone that is more knowledgeable then you are and has a lot of value to offer…However, I do NOT think that your success depends on your sponsor.

Ultimately, it’s still up to you to do the things necessary to create your success. Great topic!

Yes, when researching the right fit for a company many folks JUMP instead of do their due diligence…because this is a relationship business…that of MLM.

I must say Bill your article is right on. I have had the fortune and misfortune of both. I have been in both positions lets say.

You are absolutely right there is no way to tell if its good or bad. One way I have found is before you sign that dotted line, see if your so called sponsor will help you with a three way call. If they do sit back and just listen to see if they are sponsor material.

Excellent article. There is a difference between a sponsor and a recruiter.

Great point of view,till this date some of my so called sponsors are nowhere to be found.lol

The other side to this coin is that most people don’t want to be told what to do.That’s why it’s necessary to work only with a selected few and not go into a sponsoring rampage.

This post has made me reflect on what kind of sponsor I am. I think it is good for all of to take an inventory of how we train our new distributors and place ourselves in their shoes. Try to go back to when we first got involved in a MLM.

I think it’s so funny looking back on it now that the “sponsor” you mention in this post is almost exactly who I used to be. And I think A LOT of people can still say that. The fortunate thing for you, myself, and now the others that are going to be introduced to what we’re doing (thanks to posts like this one) is that there is a solution to grow on and help out other network marketers that are coming from that same spot of desperation in their business.
